IDRE's LECTURE SERIES BEGINS:
UCLA's new Institute for Digital Research and Education (IDRE) will launch a lecture series beginning Oct. 24. The
bi-weekly series was designed to have a broad appeal to people across campus, and over the course of the next year speakers will focus on the
cyber infrastructure of the future, high-end computation, simulation, visualization and the manipulation of very large datasets. The first
presenter will be John Bell, Center for Computational Sciences and Engineering, Lawrence Berkeley National Lab, on "The role of Simulation in
Understanding Combustion."
IDRE's mission is to promote and support projects that are based in high-end computation, simulation, visualization, and the manipulation of very large
datasets. Projects within the Institute will be multidisciplinary and partnership-based.
The lectures will all take place on Mondays, from 4 to 6 p.m. in Boelter Hall, Room 8500.
